ABUJA – The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has said Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has demonstrated steady leadership amid political tensions in the state, citing his approach to governance over the past two years.
The position was contained in a statement signed by the President of the council, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, who also serves as Secretary of the NYCN Board of Trustees.
In the statement, the NYCN referenced the political situation in Rivers State, noting that Governor Fubara had responded to challenges with restraint and an emphasis on peace.
“Over the past two years, amid man-made political tensions in Rivers State, Governor Fubara has demonstrated exemplary leadership marked by patience, tolerance, accommodation, and peace-building,” the council said.
The NYCN said the Governor had remained focused on governance and service delivery despite the tensions.
“Beyond these qualities, he has remained resolute and principled, a calm but determined fighter committed to delivering democratic dividends to the people,” the statement added.
According to the council, the Governor’s approach has contributed to institutional stability and public confidence in governance.
The statement also highlighted developments recorded under the administration across several sectors, including education, health, agriculture and youth empowerment.
“Under his stewardship, Rivers State has recorded notable progress across key sectors,” the NYCN stated.
The council said youth-focused programmes had expanded opportunities for skills acquisition, enterprise development and employment, contributing to increased youth engagement with the administration.
“These achievements explain why Nigerian youths strongly identify with Governor Fubara’s leadership and vision,” it said.
The NYCN further noted that the cumulative effect of policies and interventions had contributed to economic activity across communities in the state’s local government areas.
Reaffirming its position, the council said it would continue to support the Rivers State Government.
“The NYCN therefore affirms its unwavering support and solidarity with his administration as it continues to chart a path of development, unity, and shared prosperity,” the statement said.
The council wished the Governor well on his birthday and offered prayers for good health, wisdom and continued success.
