…— As Labour Minister, Onyejeocha commissions town hall in Isuikwuato

ABUJA — THE Federal Government has laid foundation for the Abia State Skill Acquisition Centre in Uvim community, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of the state

The facility, featuring an administrative block and hostels, follows the standard design and operations of all National Directorate of Employment, NDE Skill Acquisition Centres nationwide.

At the site, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Rt. Hon. Nkeiru Onyejeocha emphasized on: “expand access to practical skills training, empower young people and improve employability across the state,” adding that it will operate with uniform standards to ensure “quality, uniformity and relevance to today’s labour market.”

She said: “Our focus is not just on starting projects, but on delivering functional centres that equip Nigerians with skills for decent work and sustainable livelihoods… I assure you this project will be completed within 12 months.”

Also speaking, a former member of Abia State House of Assembly for Isikwuato constituency, Emeka Okorafor, praised the centre as “a massive intervention aimed at giving skills to our people and taking young people off the streets,” noting Onyejeocha “has always believed that the youth must be taken out of the street.”

The Minister has also extended her impact by commissioning a new town hall for the Isuikwuato Town Development Union, now a multi-purpose hub for community events.

Onyejeocha extended her humanitarian efforts by supporting over 1,000 widows and indigent residents with food, wrappers, and cash.

The outreach featured a praise night led by Methodist Bishop of Nneochi, His Lordship Bishop Tasie, alongside Bishop Ken Egbuchie and Bishop Eze of Mgboo and Aba Diocese.

Traditional rulers, women’s groups, and gospel artist Frank Edwards joined the celebration.

Recall that during Christmas at her Ngodo Isuochi country home, she hosted the All Progressives Congress, APC members and Nkeiruka Onyejeocha Foundation beneficiaries from both Isuikwuato and Umunneochi local government areas, distributing rice, wrappers, and cash to over 2,000 people amid prayers and goodwill messages.

These initiatives in Isuikwuato and Umunneochi council areas highlighted her dedication to inclusive governance and job creation.

Tosin Oluwalowo, her Special Adviser on Media and Communications, in a statement, explained that the end-of-year efforts embody the Minister’s people-centered governance, fully aligned with the federal government’s renewed hope agenda.

Onyejeocha reflected: “This is another step in strengthening skills development and job creation, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda… We are committed to building opportunities that translate into real livelihoods for our people.”
