Following a three-month closure necessitated by a fire outbreak, Kayzplace reopened in Lagos on Sunday drawing an array of entertainers, clients, well-wishers and community figures who came to mark its comeback after the setback.

The gathering had a reflective and celebratory tone, because for many in attendance, the event was less about the refurbished space and more about celebrating a small business that had weathered an unexpected disruption.

Popular entertainer Nasboi, commended the owner’s resolve, describing him as persistent in the face of setbacks. He also reflected on the pressure many young people face to achieve quick success, noting that building something sustainable often takes time. He also emphasized the importance of patience, preparation and balancing education with practical skills.

For the family behind the business, the day carried an emotional weight. The owner, Nnah Kufre William, popularly known as Kay, explained that taking steps to rebuild was necessary despite the challenges, as reopening was not optional.

On her part, his wife, Rose Kufre-William, said the period following the fire was difficult and heartbreaking, adding that the reopening symbolised more than a physical makeover.

She also encouraged young people to remain intentional in their pursuits, emphasising the value of self-awareness and consistent effort in standing out.

Over the years, Kayzplace has become a familiar stop for figures in music, film, fashion and comedy, a reputation that has helped cement its place in Lagos’ social landscape.
