In a move to empower the less privileged, encourage education via scholarship, and provide shelter for widows, Touch of Valentine Foundation is set to inaugurate another arm of the foundation, “Give Them A Roof.” The inauguration coming up in February next year will commence the project of building 1000 housing units that will span 10 years.
In a media chat with the Chairman, Touch of Valentine Foundation, Dr. Valentine Mbamalu, he said, “Two essential necessities of life, food and shelter are very important in our society today. The less privileged, widows, need help in these areas. But we chose building because in Nigeria today the cost of building materials is on the high side, and many widows can’t afford it. So, the foundation has taken it upon itself to build 1000 houses for the widows and the less privileged”.
According to Mbamalu, “this is another way of promoting humanitarian activities in the society, and contributing our quota to nation building. It is part of our mission statements to put smiles on the faces of people, and as well contribute positively to our environment. This is a means our country can move forward knowing that the government alone cannot provide all the needs of the citizens. So, the Government, brand owners, individuals, NGOs etc. must be committed to promote social, cultural, economic growth and development of Nigeria. Also, it is important to look towards the less privileged in society who need to be assisted so that they can feel a sense of belonging. That is the essence of the Touch of Valentine Foundation”.
Continuing, he said that the Foundation has empowered more than 50 young people with scholarships, and supported young entrepreneurs in business. “This year alone, the foundation has constructed two homes for the elderly, completed nine renovations, facilitated the bail of 49 prison inmates, and initiated businesses for 12 of them”.
Dr. Mbamalu is a distinguished lawyer and philanthropist whose impact spans multiple industries, including construction, mining, hospitality, real estate, and manufacturing. He serves as the CEO of Red Pastures Limited, makers of Doings Bitters Herbal Drink, Speed Worth Autos Ltd, TOV Homes, and Luna Magnet Limited.
