After the opening day 1-2  loss to Germany at the ongoing Wheelchair Tennis World Cup  in South Korea, Nigeria Tuesday pulled off the biggest upset of the day when it defeated fourth seeds Switzerland 2-1 in World Group 2.

The Group D tie, began with Nigeria’s Wasiu Yusuf defeating Yann Avanthey in quick sets of 6-4, 6-1.

Nigeria began the competition with the lowest combined ranking of the 12 teams in World Group 2, but came close to securing both singles rubbers before Daniel Pellegrina edged out Alex Adewale, the only member of the Nigerian team with a world ranking, in straight sets of 6-4,  7-5.

But Nigeria would not be denied a famous victory against the seeded Swiss as the duo of Adewale and Yusuf won the crucial doubles rubber in two sets of 7-5, 6-2.

Supported by the Cruyff Foundation, The BNP Paribas World Team Cup id the wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup (Men) and Fed Cup (Women).

The matches are being played at the Olympic Park Tennis Centre in Seoul and would  end on May 27
