As Lagos prepares to buzz with colour, energy and nostalgia this weekend, Facebook is stepping into the heart of youth culture with a mission that is as vibrant as it is vital, promoting wellness, creativity and meaningful connection among young Nigerians.
At this year’s AprokoNation Fiesta, Y2K Edition, billed for Saturday, November 29 at Eridan Space, Ikeja, the social media giant will host immersive experiences designed to show how young people across the country are using Facebook not just for entertainment, but to build healthier, more intentional lives.
The partnership marks a fresh push to amplify the growing movement of Nigerian youths embracing fitness, mental wellness and community-building as part of their lifestyle.
Speaking ahead of the event, Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa, Meta, said Facebook remains a key platform for positive conversations shaping youth culture globally.
“Facebook is a leading place for conversations about cultural moments around the world. We are thrilled to be live at the AprokoNation Fiesta, showcasing how young adults in Nigeria are meaningfully spending their time on Facebook to explore interests and navigate life transitions – from joining Groups for mental health support, following Pages with healthy living tips, using Events to find fitness classes or wellness workshops, and much more,” she said.
Often described as “the healthiest party”, the AprokoNation Fiesta has become one of Nigeria’s most anticipated youth wellness festivals, offering an atmosphere where fun meets fitness, and where mental and physical well-being are celebrated as essential parts of everyday life.
This year’s Y2K-themed edition taps into nostalgia while promoting a modern wave of wellness culture sweeping urban Nigeria, where young adults increasingly prioritise self-care, community, and clean, energetic fun.
For Aproko Doctor, the founder and face behind the movement, the fiesta is more than an annual gathering; it is a living, breathing expression of a growing community.
“For us, the AprokoNation Fiesta is more than just a party; it’s a physical extension of the community we’ve built around making healthier choices feel cool. Partnering with Facebook this year is perfect because that’s exactly where these important conversations happen daily,” he said.
“Whether you’re finding a support group for your fitness journey or learning quick health tips, Facebook is the platform where young Nigerians connect, learn and don’t feel alone. We are excited to see the entire AprokoNation turn up, connect live, and prove that clean, healthy fun is the biggest vibe of all!”
Saturday’s event will bring together creators, young adults, wellness advocates and celebrities who will interact, learn, and create memorable moments at the Facebook-themed booth.
Attendees are expected to discover new communities, expand their social circles, and engage in activities that reinforce the message that wellness is not only accessible, it is enjoyable, relatable, and deeply social.
As the countdown begins, the collaboration signals a wider cultural shift: young Nigerians are redefining what it means to have fun, choosing community, creativity and well-being as the new cool.
