Odunayo Aliu, Founder and Executive Director of Bramble Network, has been honoured with the Outstanding Youth Delegate Award at the 30th Session of the AFS Youth Assembly, held in New York City.
Selected from over 600 delegates representing more than 80 countries, Aliu stood out for her exceptional leadership, commitment to youth empowerment, and innovative contributions to educational access and community development.
The AFS Youth Assembly, organised by AFS Intercultural Programmes, is a global platform that convenes young changemakers to collaborate, learn, and lead under the theme “Defying Adversity: Empowering Young Global Citizens to Lead.”
The Outstanding Youth Delegate Award is the Assembly’s highest individual honour, recognising one delegate whose work exemplifies transformative impact and global citizenship.
Aliu’s work through Bramble Network has empowered hundreds of young people across underserved communities in Nigeria and beyond, equipping them with digital skills, leadership training, and access to opportunities that foster long-term growth. Her strategic vision and grassroots engagement have positioned Bramble Network as a rising force in youth-led development.
“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of the work we do at Bramble Network. It reflects the resilience and brilliance of the youth we serve, and it inspires me to continue building inclusive spaces where young people can thrive,” Aliu said.
In addition to receiving the award, Aliu participated in high-level dialogues, workshops, and the Celebration of International Youth Day at the United Nations Headquarters, engaging with global leaders and fellow changemakers.
As she continues to scale Bramble Network’s impact, she remains committed to fostering innovation, collaboration, and equity in youth development.
Her recognition at the AFS Youth Assembly marks a significant milestone in her journey to empower the next generation of global leaders.
