A student focused group, the Billioncodes Team, has given financial support to some students of the Osun State College of Health Technology, OSCOHEALTH, Ilesha, Osun State.
Led by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, the Assistant General Secretary, National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, Southwest, the group also launched some projects in the college.
Each beneficiary got N50,000.
The recipients, drawn from various departments, demonstrated exceptional academic prowess and potential. The scholarship aims to support the students in their academic pursuits, enabling them to focus on their studies and achieve their goals. The recipients are: Bamigbala Adewale from the Department of Dental Surgery Technician, Adekola Ameedat from the Department of Health Information Management, Orisaleye Samuel from the Department of Pharmacy Technician Department, Olagunju Motunrayo Sofiat from the Department of Environmental Health, Ogunmuyiwa Foluke J. from the Department of Dental Therapy, Akindoye Samuel from the Department of Medical Laboratory Technician, Agboluaje Naomi O. from the Department of Community Health Extension Worker, 300 and Olayiwola Rofiyat Ayodele from the Department of Public Health.
The Director of the School of Environmental Studies, Sanitarian S.B Adebayo, delivered a keynote address on “Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management.”
He emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness, stating, “Cleaning of the environment is part of personal hygiene that all students should focus on.”
His presentation highlighted the critical role that individuals play in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The programme also featured the launch of a project aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness on campus. The “Waste Bin” project seeks to encourage students to dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean environment.
The programme was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mrs Oparinde, the Deputy Provost of the College, the College Registrar, College Dean of Student Affairs, HODs, Comr. Aderoju Bashir (SSA to Osun State Governor on Students Matters), Hon. Ridwan Wale Ayofe (SSA to Osun State Governor on O’Sinage), Comrade Owolewa Taiwo (NANS Southwest Coordinator), Comrade Olatunde Aboke (NANS Southwest.General Secretary), Comrade Kuku Isaiah (NANS Southwest PRO) and among others.
Their presence underscored the importance of the programme and the commitment of stakeholders to promoting academic excellence and environmental sustainability.
The success of the programme set a precedent for future collaborations between Billioncodes Team and the Student Union Government. Potential areas for future initiatives include expanding the scholarship programme, implementing additional environmental sustainability projects, and exploring other ways to support students and promote academic excellence.
