Nigerian Afrobeat and Afrofusion artist, Victor Effiong Edet, known professionally as Akiniz, is set to release a soul-lifting new single titled Oh My God (OMG), a song inspired by hardship, faith, and the urgent need for togetherness in the music industry.

Akiniz, who began singing at 13 in churches before recording his first song Madonna in Bayelsa, said the new single, OMG, dropping May 30th, was born from a deeply personal struggle.

“I was going through a lot when I wrote OMG,” he shared. “In that moment, all I could do was pray. The only thing that kept coming to my mind was asking God for help. In a country like this, sometimes that’s

all you’ve got, faith.”

With Oh My God, Akiniz blends melody and meaning, using heartfelt lyrics to connect with listeners facing tough times. But beyond music, he uses the platform to call for a cultural shift in the industry.

“Honestly, it’s hard doing music alone without support,” he said.

“We need the bigger artists to give young talents like us a real chance. I just want to see artists supporting artists, not competing in silence.”

Known for his genre-bending sound, Akiniz is also expanding into Reggae and Drill. Still, he stays rooted in storytelling and uplifting messages.

“This song is also for the unbelievers not just in God, but in themselves. No matter what you’re going through, keep believing and never stop praying.”
