Soludo, Obi, Nwoye in Oko for burial of Educationist and Author

Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, and the Senator representing Anambra North, Senator Tony Nwoye, were among the dignitories from different parts of the country to witness the furneral rites of renowned educationist and author, Mrs. Esther E. Okafor.

At the funeral service conducted by a team of seven Bishops at the St John the Divine Anglican Church Oko, Orumba North LGA in Anambra State led by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata,  His Lordship, Dr. Samuel Ezeofor along  Bishops like  Rev’d Dr. James Olusola Odedeji. Diocese of Lagos West,  Rt Rev’d Festus Uzorka Nwafili Diocese of Dokwa and Rt Rev’d Kingsley C. Obuh. Diocese of Asaba. Other Bishops include Rt Rev’d Victor E. Okporu. Diocese of Western Izon, Rt Rev’d Godfrey Ekpenisi. Diocese of Ika, and Rt Rev’d Obiora Uzochukwu. Diocese of Mbamili , the eventful life and times of the late author and educationist was the focus of sermon.

With the academia and religious in attendance, Mrs Okafor’s life in the academics and the christian religious ministry was x-rayed.

Mrs. Okafor, who was a one time head of the department of language arts at Fedpoly Oko, is the author of many prominent and influential books, including Basic Course in English Grammar for Schools and Colleges (2000),Essential Communication Skills in English (2002),among others, in addition to many publications in theology.

She studied at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she graduated with an Upper Class Division in Language Arts.

Mrs. Okafor who died at the age of 83, had an excellent career in academia after which she dedicated her whole life to  various religious ministration.Her son, Chief Obi Okafor, Obichiliuzo Oko, who paid tributes to the exemplary life lived by the late mum,u promised that the family would endeavour to keep her legacies in selfless Christian life and hard work that saw her excell in all the endeavours she undertook.
