In a heartwarming initiative aimed at uplifting the lives of vulnerable women, a foundation, Chapat Empowerment Foundation International, has held a significant outreach for over 100 widows and single mothers over the weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Founded by Madam Tosin Pedro, the foundation’s mission is to provide support and empowerment to marginalised groups, emphasising the importance of catering for the needs of these women.
Speaking during the event held at the open space, Dugbe, Ibadan, Madam Pedro, who was represented by Barr. Oluwatoba Olaifa, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to this cause.
“It is essential that we come together as a community to support our widows and single mothers. They face unique challenges, and it is our duty to ensure they have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.”
The outreach featured a comprehensive health talk delivered by Dr. Muyiwa, a health practitioner from Lagos, who provided valuable information on various health issues pertinent to women.
Dr. Muyiwa emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups and shared insights on preventative healthcare practices, adding that: “Knowledge is power. By understanding their health, these women can take proactive steps to improve their well-being.”
His engaging presentation covered topics such as nutrition, mental health, and the importance of early diagnosis for common diseases.
Similarly, the event offered free health screenings, enabling attendees to assess their health status and receive guidance on necessary follow-up actions.
However, the screenings were well-received, with many women expressing gratitude for the opportunity to gain insights into their health conditions as the the outreach included with the donation of essential food items, ensuring that these women left with tangible support to help them through challenging times.
To further extend their outreach, the foundation visited a number of orphanages in the area.
“This initiative aimed not only to provide supplies and support to the orphaned children but also to raise awareness about the challenges faced by these vulnerable populations.”
“We believe in creating a ripple effect of kindness. By supporting both widows, single mothers, and orphans, we foster a community where no one feels alone in their struggles,” Barr. Olaifa noted.
