…Assures Progress on Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

ENUGU – Renowned Igbo leader and elder statesman, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, has praised the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), describing it as a critical step toward advancing the region’s infrastructural and economic development.

Chief Ogbonnaya expressed optimism that the commission would provide much-needed job opportunities and attract investments to the South East.

Speaking during an event, Ogbonnaya also lauded the groundbreaking of the Abia Airport at Nsulu, highlighting its potential to open up Abia State for increased investor activities.

Ogbonnaya commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his thoughtful selection of competent individuals to lead the newly established SEDC, noting that their expertise would lay a solid foundation for the commission’s success.

“This commission is crucial for the South East. We thank the President for being thorough and deliberate in appointing the Board and Management team. The leaders of the South East, including Ohanaeze Ndigbo, are keen on the commission’s success,” he said.

He called on the people of the region to support and cooperate with the SEDC, emphasizing the need for unity to achieve the commission’s objectives.

Chief Ogbonnaya applauded President Tinubu for approving the construction of the international airport in Abia and recognized the efforts of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, in partnering with the federal government to bring the project to fruition.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, in facilitating federal projects and appointments for the people of Abia State.

“This administration has remembered Abia State. Through Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the President has accomplished so much for us. The least we can do is appreciate these efforts,” Ogbonnaya stated.

He encouraged the people of Abia to recognize and celebrate the palliative measures and development projects being implemented in the state, cautioning against downplaying these achievements.

Addressing the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Chief Ogbonnaya urged patience, assuring that high-level discussions between Igbo leaders and the federal government were ongoing to secure his release.

“Efforts are being made, and I believe it won’t be long before we hear good news,” Ogbonnaya said.

The elder statesman expressed hope that the combined efforts of Igbo leaders and the federal government would soon resolve the matter, fostering unity and peace in the region.
