Biji-biji Initiative drives environmental, social change globally

A Malaysian-based social enterprise, Biji-biji Initiative, has pledged commitment to helping organisations grow their environmental and social competence through accelerator programmes.

Biji-biji, which disclosed this in a statement of said  it would do so by aligning their initiatives and efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The statement reads: “The workshop has been held annually since 2015 in collaboration with partners including the Global Citizenship Education, GCED, Youth Network. The aim is to provide a venue for young education advocates for knowledge & experience sharing on innovative approaches to GCED in the changing learning environment.

“A total of 10 teams from various countries graduated where they were given an exclusive

opportunity to get grants amounting up to USD 1,000 each to execute their project ideas and a 6-month training and mentorship programme.

“Who are the 9th Youth Leadership Workshop (YLW) training and mentorship executors?

Biji-biji Initiative, BBI, is a Malaysian-based social enterprise that does social impact programs in areas of civic engagement and youth leadership. Biji-biji Initiative helps organisations via accelerator programs to inevitably grow their environmental and social impact competence by aligning their initiatives and efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“The training and mentorship programme was done completely virtually for 6 months which

included training, group and individual mentorships, office hours and a speaker-sharing session. The participants are from around the world and in particular from 10 countries across four regions, Africa, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. The 10 countries are Uganda, Botswana, Nigeria, Malawi, Haiti, Indonesia, Philippines, Afghanistan, Nepal and India.”
