The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers and the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has emphasised the need for members of the Igbo community in the state to prioritise unity over differences and work collectively towards progress.

He gave the charge during the weekend at an extraordinary Town Hall Meeting convened by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde on Community Relations (Igbo Community), Hon. Tallest Innocent.

The meeting, held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan, gathered various members of the Igbo community to discuss key issues affecting them.

According to Ogundoyin, “In our diversity lies our strength. It is essential for the Igbo community to come together, set aside any differences, and focus on common goals that will benefit not just the community, but the entire state.”

He further stated that “Unity is the foundation upon which we can build a prosperous future for our children and generations to come.”

He noted that the Igbo community is crucial to Governor Makinde’s administration, adding that the state government recognises their enterprise, hard work, and significant contributions to the economic fortunes of the state.

“The state government values the input of the Igbo community, and we are committed to ensuring that your voices are heard,” he said.

Ogundoyin explained that the government is dedicated to addressing the needs of the Igbo community, stating, “We have taken it upon ourselves to engage with you and provide the necessary support. Your progress is our progress, and together we can achieve great things.

He encouraged the leadership of the Igbo community to take proactive measures in creating a better future for the next generation.

“Leadership is about responsibility; it is about paving the way for those who will come after us. Let us all work hand in hand to ensure that we leave a legacy of unity and progress,” he stressed.
