Kesiena Edafiogho: Pioneering success, empowerment in Canadian tech industry

Kesiena Edafiogho, known to many as Sena, has forged an impressive path in the Canadian tech industry, becoming a role model of resilience and empowerment. Born and raised in Nigeria, Sena made her transition to Canada nearly two decades ago, bringing with her a tenacity and drive that would define her success. Today, she is recognized as a respected leader and sought-after consultant across North America’s tech landscape.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Igbinedion University in Nigeria, Sena arrived in Canada ready to broaden her horizons. She continued her education in Toronto, where she earned a Post-Graduate Degree in International Business Management and Human Resources from Humber College. Dedicated to lifelong learning, she went on to obtain additional certifications in Project Management, Anti-Money Laundering, Business Analysis, and Leadership and Mentorship—an embodiment of her commitment to professional growth and excellence.

Sena’s journey in tech spans over 15 years, during which she has consulted for leading banks and government offices across Canada and the United States. Her expertise covers a range of specialties, including digital transformation, project management, and software consulting. Sena’s unique ability to blend strategic insight with technical expertise has made her a trusted advisor in her field. But her contributions go well beyond consulting. Driven by a passion for helping others, Sena has been instrumental in making technology accessible to those outside traditional tech backgrounds, particularly new immigrants and career changers.

Understanding the challenges these groups often face, Sena developed an online training program specifically designed to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and practical application. Her program doesn’t merely teach coding or technical skills; it provides a comprehensive view of the digital landscape, instilling participants with the confidence and understanding needed to thrive. “I believe that transitioning into tech is not just about learning to code or acquiring technical skills—it’s about understanding the ecosystem, building resilience, and having the right mindset,” Sena shared. Her holistic approach has already helped over 200 individuals transition into successful tech careers, a testament to her impactful mentorship and unique training methods.

Inspired to create more pathways to success, Sena founded Synergy One Consulting Corporation, a platform that offers not only training but career mentorship and job placements. Recognizing the barriers many immigrants and career changers face when looking for employment, Synergy One works to connect skilled individuals with the right opportunities, providing support that goes beyond the classroom.

Sena’s journey, however, has not been without challenges. Moving to a new country, she navigated cultural adjustments, professional uncertainties, and the need to establish her place within a competitive industry. Through perseverance and an unwavering focus, she transformed these obstacles into stepping stones, rising as a notable leader and mentor in Canada’s tech community.

Balancing her professional life, Sena is also a dedicated wife and mother of three, valuing family time alongside her career achievements. Her story is as much about personal fulfillment as it is about professional success, showing that a balanced life is possible with determination and a clear vision.

Looking ahead, Sena hopes to continue expanding her training programs and growing Synergy One into a leading force for tech professionals across Canada. Her vision is to create a more inclusive and diverse tech community, inspiring a new generation to reach their potential. Kesiena “Sena” Edafiogho’s story is one of courage, dedication, and the power of community—a story that continues to inspire those looking to redefine their own paths in the tech industry.

“I believe that success in the tech industry is not just about technical skills, but about resilience, mindset, and the ability to adapt to change. When I moved to Canada nearly 20 years ago, I faced many challenges, but those experiences shaped my belief in the power of continuous learning and growth. My mission has always been to empower others, especially immigrants and those from non-tech backgrounds, to see that the tech world is full of opportunities for everyone. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to not only embrace technology but to build the confidence and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry. It’s about creating a community where we all lift each other up and help each other succeed.” says Kesiena.
