OmniRetail launches franchise model to transform FMCG distribution in Nigeria

OmniRetail launches franchise model to transform FMCG distribution in Nigeria

OmniRetail, named the fastest-growing company in Africa by the Financial Times, has unveiled a new initiative aimed at transforming Nigerian entrepreneurs into retail powerhouses. Leveraging its vast network of over 200 manufacturers, 144,000+ retailers, and 1,100 logistics partners, the company has introduced OmniHub—a platform designed to support entrepreneurs who seek to go beyond traditional distribution in the FMCG sector.

OmniHub is a tech-driven, decentralized distribution franchise designed to transform FMCG distribution across Nigeria. By utilizing a franchise model, it allows entrepreneurs and business-minded individuals to start and operate their own FMCG distribution businesses.

Through OmniHub, Nigerian entrepreneurs can manage their own warehouses, generate a steady income, and help supply essential goods to communities nationwide. This model not only supports the growth of local businesses but also aligns with government initiatives to promote entrepreneurship, empower SMEs, and improve access to goods in both urban and rural areas.

Speaking at the OmniHub Launch event on Tuesday in Lagos, the CEO of OmniRetail, Deepankar Rustagi, said: “At OmniRetail, we have always embraced innovation, through our “network of networks” platform and today’s launch is a testament to that commitment.

“OmniHub is more than just a distribution system—it is a transformative platform that empowers people looking for business opportunities in FMCG distribution, to become key players in a decentralized, tech-enabled warehousing model. OmniHub integrates seamlessly with our vision to create a dynamic, interconnected ecosystem that benefits everyone—from manufacturers to OmniHub partners to retailers in the communities they serve.”

“With AI-powered predictive procurement, OmniHub offers manufacturers and our partners real-time visibility into inventory, optimized stock levels, and better product availability, which in turn reduces stockouts and improves supply chain efficiency. This cutting-edge solution will help drive business growth while addressing critical challenges in the distribution landscape,” he added.

Also, the COO of OmniRetail, Adewale Adisa, commented, “As we continue expanding, we plan to open an additional 250 OmniHubs by 2025, further enhancing our ‘network of networks’ model. This asset-light strategy is central to OmniRetail’s vision of empowering local entrepreneurs and boosting economic growth through scalable, technology-driven solutions. So, we are inviting people who own commercial spaces and are interested in starting their own business in the FMCG distribution sector to partner with us.”

Rustagi stated that with 50 locations now operational, the plan is to expand the model to 300 locations across Nigeria by 2025. He further highlighted the company’s regional growth, with hubs already established in Accra and Ivory Coast, and added that OmniRetail is exploring new verticals, such as pharmaceuticals and cold storage, to diversify its offerings.
