Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has on Monday inaugurated a 14-member independent judicial commission of inquiry to investigate and identify sponsors of the end bad governance protests that turned violent in the state.
The Governor who inaugurate the members at the Kano State government house, charged the commission to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the widespread destructions and looting that marred the protest in the state.
Recall that the protest which started peacefully later turned violent after hoodlums hijacked the protest destroying properties worth billions of Naira, including the Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC courts and shops among others.
Governor Yusuf urged the commission to identify the perpetrators and sponsors of the violence, which also saw the raising of Russian flags by some individuals.
The Governor assured the members of his administration’s full support and cooperation by giving them a free hand to carry out their duties.
The commission’s terms of reference include: Investigating the causes of the End Bad Governance Protest, Identifying the perpetrators and sponsors of the violence, assessing the extent of damage and loss of lives and recommending measures to prevent future occurrences.
The commission is expected to submit its report within a specified timeframe for further actions.
Members of the panel of inquiry include, Judges, lawyers and other stakeholders to mention a few.
