Ikeduru people has set aside February 26, 2012, for requiem services for their three illustrious son, who were among the hundreds that were gruesomely murdered by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, in Kano State.
Disclosing this to newsmen after their enlarged executive council meeting, the President General of Ikeduru Patriotic Union, IPU, Chief Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, gave the names of the deceased patriots as Ikechukwu Nneji from Abazu, Akabo.
The other two, who were felled by the Islamic assassins, are Basil Ibe from Amaeke, Inyishi and Edmund Onu from Owubinaubi, Amakohia.
“It is most unfortunate that while we were at home celebrating Christmas, the three of our kinsmen were engulfed in that unfortunate disaster orchestrated by the dreaded Boko Haram loyalists”, Ajumbe lamented.
Speaking earlier at the meeting, Champion publisher and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, appealed to IPU leadership to chart a new course, which Ikeduru people should follow.
One of the highlights of the event was the visit of IPU executive to the families of the deceased patriots, where they prayed and consoled those left to mourn the departed
