An accounts clerk, Lukman Bolajoko, 23, was on Thursday arraigned before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing N660,000 from his employer.

Bolajoko, who works with Numerique Nigeria Limited, Lagos and resided at No. 25, Abata St., Orile, Lagos, is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Sergent Samuel Ishola, alleged that the offence was committed on September 9, 2011 in the office of the accused in Surulere, Lagos.

He told the court that the accused absconded after cashing a cheque that was given to him by his boss.

Ishola said that the alleged offence contravened Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

In her ruling, Magistrate A. Tobi granted the accused bail, with two sureties who should be family members and resident in Lagos and adjourned the case to April 6, for trial. (NAN)
