FG urged to intervene in Ibori’s London trial

By FESTUS AHON

UGHELLI – FORMER Caretaker Committee Chairman of Isoko Development Union, IDU, Chief Charles Akeni, has appealed to the Federal Government to intervene in the ongoing case of money laundering against former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, in London.

Ibori is currently standing trial at Crown Court, Southwalk, London, for money laundering.

Akeni, who made the appeal in a chat with newsmen, said the appeal became necessary to give Ibori soft landing in the case being tried in London “considering his achievements in Delta State while he was in office.”

Noting that the former governor’s “developmental stride in Delta State was unprecedented, making a lot of us to be very proud of him,” he added “all the development in Asaba, Warri and the entire state today are the handiwork of former governor, Ibori.”
