The Deputy President of Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan and organised labour for amicable resolution of fuel subsidy impasse, saying that both parties acted in national interest.

Senator Ekweremadu, who was reacting to the reduction of fuel price to N97 per litre by the President and the consequent decision of Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress to suspend the protest, said these were the only reasonable steps to save the nation from anarchy and socio-economic crisis.

“I salute the courage and maturity of Mr President in bending backwards, as well as the flexibility and patriotism shown by organised labour in calling off the protest and strike in the overall interest of the nation; this is a case of no victor, no vanquishes; Nigeria is the winner”, Ekweremadu said.
