…say it’s time for Nigerians to rally in unity, support him for Nigeria’s progress

ABUJA – In the aftermath of the Supreme Court verdict that upheld Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential elections, Christian clerics under the auspices of the National Solemn Assembly have stated that it’s time for Nigerians to rally in unity and support for the president.
The verdict, they believe, is God’s will and a step towards rapid progress for Nigeria.
During a prayer rally held in Abuja on Tuesday, preceding the National Day of Prayer scheduled for December 1, 2023, the clerics called upon opposition parties to gracefully accept the outcome of the election.
The rally concludes a 40-day fast that began on October 20, 2023.
“We thank God because everything that has happened in Nigeria has happened the way God wanted it. So everybody should join in thanking God and we thank God for our president and his winning team,” said Archbishop Leonard Kefas Bature, Chairman of the planning committee for the National Solemn Assembly.
Bature also expressed gratitude for the peacefulness maintained by all candidates and reminded Nigerians that there is always a chance for victory in future elections.
He further emphasized the need for unity and support for the president, stating that “God has given us a leader and it is now time for all of us to gather and unite and support our leader, our president, so that Nigeria will make rapid progress.”
The National Solemn Assembly is a non-denominational gathering of Nigerians, both Christians and non-Christians, focused on addressing the country’s issues such as rising insecurity and a harsh economy.
Dame Comfort Chigbue, Secretary General of the National Solemn Assembly, urged all Nigerians to join the prayer rally.
“Whether you’re a Christian or not join us to thank God because God is for everybody, God is our Creator and we are here to thank God for Nigeria, the mineral resources, for the humanity, for our leaders, children and family,” she said.
Chigbue, who also serves as the national legal director of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), expressed faith in the country’s future despite the ongoing challenges.
“I believe in this country, I believe in the glory of this country, I believe in the unity and justice of this country that equity will prevail and people will come to this country and say yes, I went to a great country called Nigeria,” she added.
