THE Edo United for Good Governance, a pressure group in Edo State, asks Governor Adams Oshiomhole to concentrate on governance for the people of the state rather than launching what it described as “unwarranted vilification” of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd).
The group said Airhiavbere has come to right the wrongs of Oshiomhole’s administration and no matter how much panic the aspirant’s coming caused the governor, “the well-being of the good people of Edo is eternally and sacredly more important that the private and morbid fears of a man whose mouth works overtime.” In a statement in Benin City , signed by its coordinator, Omogui Osarodion, the group advised the governor not to go the way of calumny”.
The group was reacting to the governor’s statement that Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, who recently declared his interest in the race for the PDP’s ticket to contest the 14 July 2012 governorship election in the state, “is still the best for PDP, the best of them compared to all those cashiers, people who became general without ever firing a gun, or those who cannot even have one genuine certificate.”
The group said, “For the record, and at once, all PDP aspirants for the 2012 guber race are better educated, more suave, more sophisticated and more experienced,” just as it added that Airhiavbere had served Nigeria creditably for 37 years, attained enviable academic heights and served in capacities that had endowed him with the experience to run a project like Edo State.”
