Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) aspirant for the post of secretary general of the party, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, says  the late publisher of Guardian newspaper, Chief Alex Ibru, chose the spot he would be buried in 1995.

Speaking at a dinner organized in his honour by renowned cinematographer and long time friend, Dr. Ola Balogun and his Iroko Band at Victoria, at  the weekend, Babatope revealed that the  late Guardian publisher showed him the spot he should be buried inside a chapel he had  built in Agbara –Otto, Delta State, his home–town.

For this unusual courageous act, Babatope remarked that when he came back from Ibru’s home-town, he took his wife with him and went straight to Ilesa, his home-town in Osun State and showed her and other family members the spot he too should be buried inside his house in the historic town.

Reacting to questions on the loss of the South-west by his party,  the PDP, at the occasion, he said that the party’s leadership in the region and at the national level had begun the process of massive reconciliation of all the factions in all the states in the geo-political zone.

According to him, the party’s executive council (EXCO) in Osun State has been dissolved in order to pave  the way for total reconciliation of the contending factions. This, he said, “will be replicated in all the states in the South-west.” The former Director of Organization of defunct Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, also said that PDP has designed the strategy to reclaim the South-west from the Action Party of Nigeria.
