National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday arrested two suspects for allegedly trying to export 133 wraps of substance suspected to be methamphetamine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to the NDLEA Airport Commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar the suspects, Okonkwo John Martins Ebuka, 21 and  Ajaekwe Chinedu Charles, 31 were apprehended when they were about to board an Emirate and Qatar flights at the airport.

He noted that one of the suspects, Okonkwo, openly vomited two wraps of drugs that he ingested when NDLEA officers were taking their documents at the airport, adding that he later excreted about 45 wraps of methamphetamine weighing 800 grammes when he was put under observation.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade pointed out that the agency would continue to prevent drug trafficking and protect the image of the country.

“Drug trafficking attracts death penalty in Malaysia. We are happy to have stopped these suspects. Their action is simply suicidal and the trend is becoming worrisome. However, we shall intensify efforts in preventing cases of drug trafficking in the country” Giade stated.

He however added that both suspects would soon be charge to court.
