By DAYO ADESULU & HOPE IGBARUMA

Parents in the country are called upon to ensure that their children receive total education so as to be able to prevail over life challenges.

This was the assertion of Mr Chris Odiaka, Chairman, Cridy Children School, Lagos during the School’s first ever inter-house sport competition.

According to him, an informed person is such that is good in the field and in the office,  noting that the future of the country could be determined by the quality of education available at the moment.

He said the management of Cridy took time to consolidate on academic excellence before embarking on the first annual inter-house sports of the School.

It would be recalled that two of its pupils, Chidera Opara and Chidera Efabi, took second and third positions respectively in the Lagos State Indomie organised Academic Excellence Competition. He said it was the first contest in which the School participated since its inception 10 years ago.

In his address, Odiaka stated that the event is part of what was promised to be given to children, an “all round education” which will give them confidence in life. According to him, “if you are god in academics, you can also be good in sports. If you are not very good in academics, you definitely will be good in sports and you can combine both”.

He also added that the main aim is to prepare the children to be successful in life, excel both in Nigeria and in diaspora as well as inculcate in the children the spirit of competition and the spirit of success.

Cridy Children’s School, according to the Odiaka was founded ten years ago to mold characters, build personalities and “let the light shine” in children who will study like scholars without distractions.

Also speaking, the school’ s proprietress, Mrs E.O Odiaka, who was the former Deputy Headmistress of Saint Saviour’s School, Ebute-metta, said that her goal in establishing the school was not for profit making but to make her own little contribution in molding future leaders for Nigeria, who will be worthy of in character and in learning saying, “ I was motivated to give back what we ourselves have been given when we were much younger”.

Mrs Odiaka stressed that the main aim has always been an all round education, that is in academics and sports, building up children to acquire knowledge, skills, and values for success and high productivity

The school, which is located at the Ango Beach Estate, opposite the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Abule Osun Bus Stop, Badagry Expressway, is set up to give children the best life can offer with qualified teachers, a serene environment for high concentration and determination to make leaders with excellent opportunity for first class education and moral standard.
