Keshi can go beyond expectation if …. Amu

By KATE OBODO
Former coach of the Golden Eaglets, Fanny Amu believes Keshi still needs time to blend the players together in order to have a formidable squad for the country.

Reacting to the two friendly matches played in Benin against Botsawana and Zambia in Kaduna, the Japan ’93 FIFA U-17 winning coach said though the players played well in both matches, they still need good blending.

According to him, that will be possible if Keshi is given the time and chance to rebuild the team as expected by NFF and Nigerians.

“We all know the trend in our football today, It is a new dawn in deed, and everybody is looking further to be happy again. We wish our friend and colleague success and I pray he has a successful tenure,” he began.

“Asking if he can really help bring back the glory days and if he can meet the target given to him, means we are questioning the authority of the arrangement that engaged him. If he cannot make it, I’m not sure he would have accepted.

This time around, the NFF and Nigerian Fans should exercise patience with him. Because, it is a new dawn so he needs more time to effect changes in the team . Also the team need time to blend together before they can get their trend back again.

When asked if he is disappointed over the former Eagles gaffer Samson Siasia failure to qualify the country for the 2012 Nations Cup alongside the NFF decision to sack him, Amu said, “ I will not say I’m disappointed, he had two games, and won two matches and drew two . So I won’t say it was am embarrassing situation . NFF, in their decision to relieve him of his job was not wrong either. The thing is that he (Siasia) was not also sacked, the contract settled it,” he concluded.
