The General Secretary of the United Bible Societies, UBS, Mr. Michael Perreau, has commended the effort of Bible Society of Nigeria to invest in Nigerian prisons, describing it as a great legacy that prisoners deserved.
Perreau made the commendation at a meeting of selected Large Bible Societies in the world which was held in Lagos, the first of its kind in Africa.
Narrating his experience at Badagry prison, Perreau said he was moved by the impact made so far by Bible Society of Nigeria in ensuring that prisoners, physically challenged persons and those who could not afford a bible were all provided free copies of the bible by BSN.
He said: “I have been reading it in dailies, what Bible Society of Nigeria has been doing in Nigerian prisons. When I saw it, I was convinced this was a real investment legacy that prisoners deserved. BSN is not just giving to one part but also includes those who are in captivity.”
