Female students of Ijaw origin in the South-West, Nigeria will be hosting the 4th biennial convention of the National Association of Ijaw Female Students(NAIFS) in Lagos .

The convention which begins today and ends Monday will be attended by over 6,000 Ijaw female students from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria and beyond .

The theme of this year’s convention is THE MANIFESTATION OF IJAW GLORY:THE ROLE OF WOMEN and thekeynote address will be delivered by Ms Anne Kio Briggs,a foremost Niger Delta activist while emeritus Prof. J.P. clark will be the father of the day and Prof. Grace Alele-Williams,the mother of the day.Entertainment guru,Mr Ben Murray-Bruce would chair the occassion.

The covention is scheduled to hold at the National Arts Theatre in Iganmu-lagos and the Following activities will be featured:

1.The General assembly, where past activities like The 2010 Deworming Program in the Niger Delta creeks will be reviewed.

2.Seminar and training on skill acquisitions where all the participants will participate.

3.The Prestigious Miss Ijaw Beauty Pageant where the outgoing Miss Ijaw (Queen Veronica Abbey),A Student from the University of Jos will be crowning the new Miss Ijaw.

4. Ijaw Language Competition

The last convention with the Theme NIGER -DELTA MUST BE LIKE ABUJA that held in Abuja had over 3,000 students in attendance and was a great success
