AWKA-OFFICIALS from the national headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Anambra State Government held a marathon meeting in Awka, Monday, to find ways of resolving the industrial action in the state.

Workers in the state have been on indefinite strike for the past three weeks over what they described as unacceptable manner the state government implemented the N18,000 minimum wage.

The meeting came on the heels of a demonstration by no fewer than 3,000 women from seven groups who marched through the streets of Awka calling on labour to end the strike in the interest of the state.

The women groups comprised Christian Council of Nigeria, CCN, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, among others.

A source at the meeting said an agreement had already been reached, although he declined to give details.
