Abuja – A 22-year old tailor, Samaila Jika, on Monday appeared before an Abuja Area Court charged with house-breaking and theft.
Prosecutor Egwu Clement told the court that Jika committed the offences contrary to Sections 347 and 288 of the Penal Code.
He said that Godwin Effeyotah, a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, had reported the accused person at the Life Camp Police Station.
Clement said that on Aug. 8, the accused person broke into the church and made away with a power generating set, two speakers, an amplifier, cordless and wired microphones, all valued at N178,000.
One Jacob Agu, 23, a businessman, was also arraigned for receiving the stolen generator and converting it to his own use in contravention of Section 319 of the Penal Code.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty, compelling the prosecutor to ask the court for a date for the hearing to start.
Area Court Judge Abdullahi Mohammed granted the accused bail in the sum of N60,000 each with two reliable sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case to Oct. 20 for hearing. (NAN)
