FOLLOWING fresh threat by Al-Qaeda related Boko Haram sect in the country to attack embassies and foreign missions in Lagos state, the Police high command weekend ordered the deployment of more personnel from both the anti-bomb and anti-terrorism units to shore up the already existing security in an around these embassies.

Sources said the recent measure was aimed at forestalling the shocking and dastardly attacked of August 26 at the UN building, Abuja.

At Walter Carrington Street Victoria Island Lagos, additional personnel of both the anti-bomb and anti-terrorism units were spotted weekend taking strategic positions while more sand- filled drums were being placed by the road sides as barriers to reduce speed of vehicles coming in and out of the streets for a comprehensive search. Even pedestrians, most whom were residents of Walter Carrington street and of course, visa applicants were vigorously screened before being allowed entry into the area.

A commander of one of the units who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that the signal for the deployment of additional personnel was received Thursday afternoon adding that he was temporarily recalled for his annual vacation to ensure strict compliance of the order.
