One gold, one bronze from Taekwondo

By Tony Ubani, Maputo
JAMILU Mohammed made a mince-meat of an Ivorian, Thursday, in the 58 kg to win a precious gold for Nigeria in Taekwondo just as Joy Ekhator won bronze  in the -48 category.

Mohammed whose killer stud drew three points ahead of the Ivorian could not contain emotions as he shed tears as the Nigerian national anthem played.

President ofTaekwondo, Jonathan Nnaji joined in shedding tears. “This is marvellous for our country. We hope to win more today when Chika and Uche Chukwumerije enter the platform to fight for Nigeria”, Nnaji said.

Mohammed was too overwhelmed to talk but Joy showed the joy in her when she thanked God for making it possible in the face of difficulties.
