WARRI- THE Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Delta State branch, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan,   as a matter of national urgency, to sign the National Health bill into law saying it will impact positively on the health care delivery system in the country.

The association made the call in a communiqué issued by the state chairman and secretary, Dr. Chuks Ossai Abaninwaand Dr. Israel I. Adaigho respectively at the end its Annual General Meeting/Scientific Conference (AGM/SC) held in Sapele.
The association laud, Delta state governor, Dr.  Emmanuel Uduaghan for  the adoption of CONMESS, provision of cars for senior doctors in State service, and for assisting the association in facilitating the acquisition of the NMA land in Asaba,  but the  group frowned at  “the obnoxious tax policy of the state government and taxation of professional allowances”, which it said, “ should as a matter of urgency be reviewed”.

In their words, “Taxation of professional allowances and call duties is contrary to Federal Government circular of 1991 on these issues”.
