Ilorin: The Kwara Government says it is set to offer the best service to commuters through its resuscitated rail transport system.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport, Prince Deji Oni,made this known in Ilorin on Monday during his assessment visit to railway station in Ilorin that government would do everything possible to ensure that the people enjoyed the maximum benefit of the scheme.
He said the government had begun a test run of the service from Ilorin to Offa
The new service offers two trips from Ilorin to Offa at 8 am and 3 pm, and Offa to Ilorin at 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
Some of the passengers on the trip from Offa to Ilorin on Monday said it was “safe, comfortable and cost-effective.”
The Special Assistant said the governor was delighted at the growing public interest in rail transport, and would spare no effort to sustain the service.
According to Oni, “the administration of Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed places high premium on the transport sector because of its economic benefits.
“Now, we have seen it ourselves that the system is working. All the challenges have been noted, and we are going to address them to further boost commuters’ confidence in this very safe mode of transportation.”
Oni called on the people to reciprocate through increased patronage of the service. (NAN)
