IBADAN – Oyo State governor , Abiola Ajumobi has made it mandatory for the state’s public servants to undergo periodic medical check-up.

The governor set the pace yesterday when he led members of the executive council, to check the state of their kidneys blood sugar levels.

The exercise which the governor said would be extended to other workers in the state, was carried out by a medical team from the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

Governor Ajimobi said it was aimed at ensuring healthy living for the workers and people of the state.

Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Public Communications, Dr. Festus Adedayo, who disclosed this, said the medical team led by the Chief Medical Director, CMD, UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge,  conducted tests on the Permanent Secretaries and Directors in the State Civil Service.

He said: “This programme will be extended to all workers to ensure that everyone is in top form because, a healthy mind is a productive mind  because we want our people to be healthy, ready to work and be productive.”

Senator Ajimobi commended the management of the UCH, saying his administration would continue to partner with UCH for the success of his administration’s healthcare delivery programme.

Prof. Alonge applauded the initiative of Governor Ajimobi, saying that “this will ensure that the people are healthy and safe. What the governor is doing today is symbolic and I believe that every State should emulate him. He has made himself a prime example by embarking on what he called a routine blood profile.”
