Budding comedian and digital creator, Godson Chukwuebuka Eze, better known as Agent of laughter has shared his reasons why social media comedy is taking the lead in the comedy scene.
Not surprising, as skit makers are making megabucks and charging as much as N2 million for a branded Instagram skit.
Agent of Laughter revealing why social media comedy is the new cool said “The social media form of comedy is taking over from the stand-up form because everybody’s online and no one has the time to go to an event and wait for a comedian to speak.
“People can just sit and consume funny content right from their comfort zone, homes and offices”.

The promising comedian who has over 1.8 million fan base on Facebook and a huge following across other social media platforms also noted the challenges he faced while starting his career, he said “At the point when I started making comedy videos, I was using a low budget android device to shoot and create these videos, but then I was getting worried about the quality I could get out of it, I was trying my best to get something standard and neat to be able to create similar contents I see on television and the Internet, so I had to do a lot of deep research on video quality and aspect ratios while gradually learning how to edit at the same time.
“I concluded on getting a camera and from then henceforth I kept on upgrading my cameras till I got to the current nice one I have right now.
“Another challenge was like getting people to shoot with you on set because people are busy but then I’m thankful that I had friends around me who were willing to sacrifice just to be on set”, said Agent of Laughter.
Speaking about his choice of moniker ‘Agent of Laughter’, he said “When I was trying to come up with the name, I did some deep thinking and then I felt like okay how do I tell people that laughter is my priority….So ‘Agent of laughter’ simply means laughter has sent me”, he said.
On his take on comedians who repackage the jokes of their colleagues, he said “Yes many comedians remix old videos and yet too they create their original ideas but at some point, it may have a touch of a remix from an old video.
“It’s usually older videos that have done well in the past that are usually remixed, and the remix is not a light remix though it’s a very heavy remix.
“Original ideas still exist too and are being crafted out every day”, he said.
