Match officials walked-over Lobi stars – Ocean Boys

The management of Ocean Boys has said that match officials led by L.A. Adeyemi, the match commissioner performed the walk over formalities in the botched week 33 encounter between them and Lobi stars of Makurdi at the Samson Siasia sports complex, Yenagoa.

In a statement by the General Manager of the club, Tony Ogola, the club wondered why the truth was hard to come by from individuals who are bent on damaging the reputation of Nigerian league.

He also called on NPL to investigate his claims because they have video and picture evidence to back their claims.
It would be recalled that it was confusion galore on Sunday at the Samson Siasia sports complex in Yenagoa as Ocean Boys waited endlessly for Lobi stars of Makurdi to file out for their league match.

The match was supposed to be played behind closed doors as ordered by NFF’s disciplinary committee but could not hold as Lobi stars left Yenagoa because of what it called threat to their life by one Akabuogu, who had played for the team three seasons ago.

As the visiting team failed to show up, the match official led by L.A Odeyemi, the match commissioner from Osun state, Babatunde Obiseyan, centre referee from Oyo state Moses Adebanjo and Olayinka Olatunde both from Lagos state, walked over the visitors and awarded three points and three goals to Ocean Boys.

Ogola added that “I think they came to Yenagoa with a ploy to get points without kicking the ball by planning with Akabugo but we were smarter than them and I am sure that when they protest to NPL their claims will be dismissed”.
