2015 presidency: Anxiety over Mark’s bid

BY  PETER DURU

MAKURDI – INDICATIONS emerged, weekend, that moves to make the Senate President, Senator David Mark, the country’s president in 2015 was beginning to send shock waves across the nation’s political circles.

The core north, made up of the seven North-West states of Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kano and Jigawa, had taken it for granted that President Goodluck  Jonathan would hand over power to Vice President Namadi Sambo, who is from the zone when his tenure expires.

The South-East geo-political zone also expects that Jonathan would hand over to some one from the region because of the unprecedented support they gave him during his election.

However, Mark’s perceived ambition seems to have altered such game plans, as people were in doubt of the zone President Jonathan would support on completion of his single four-year term.
