Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, in Warri South West local government area, Delta state, has dismissed as untrue an online report that some staff of the university were set for a showdown with authorities of the school over alleged poor remuneration.

A statement by Registrar of the university, Dr Alfred Mulade , enjoined journalists to double check their information before going to press, adding that as a federal institution all staffers were paid through the Integrated Personal and Payroll Information System, PPIS.

” To put the record straight: the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, is a Federal Government Parastatal, guided by public service rules and extant regulations, being managed by responsibly knowledgeable personalities, and could not have deprived any staff of his legitimate earnings.”, he said.

” Every discerning mind is aware that salaries of Federal Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals are paid centrally through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). Individual entities has no power to arbitrarily determine own staff salaries and allowances, without recourse to National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission and other extant regulations.4.
