Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has decried the tragic building collapse in Ikoyi, which has so far claimed 38 lives, saying the other two structures would be subjected to “ageing analysis”.
The governor spoke about the tragedy on Wednesday when he visited the site of the building collapse where rescue operations are ongoing to save more people still trapped under the rubble.
When asked by one of the journalists if the government will conduct integrity test on the other two buildings to avert future re-occurrence, Sanwo-olu answered;

“This is not something we’re going to rush at, there is a process to that. So, this (pointing to a building opposite the collapsed structure) probably has been here for 15 or 20 years, is not the same situation with a live construction site. There are different mechanisms to this.
“We need to do a full audit of ageing analysis to determine how long the building has been for. There will be a lot of comprehensive work that will be put in place,” he said.
The governor promised that those found culpable will be made to face the law.
