Bauchi — Properties worth millions of naira were last week destroyed by windstorm which also wrecked structures at the newly-established Bauchi State University, Gadau and some parts of the town in Itas Gadau Local Government Area.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Sagir Aminu Saleh, who inspected the destruction at the site and around the town, expressed concern over the incident, describing the situation as a natural calamity.
Saleh noted that the wind storm was now a regular occurrence, describing the situation as alarming.
The Deputy Governor assured that the government would urgently look into the situation with the aim of providing relief materials to the affected persons.
He then sympathized with the victims of the disaster, saying that he will report the matter to the State Executive Council even as he expressed the hope that everything would be normalized within the next two weeks.
Saleh also commended the contractor handling the construction of the State University structures for his prompt action towards rehabilitating the affected buildings.
In his response, the District Head of Gadau, Alhaji Mohammadu Gadau thanked the state government for its concern and prompt reaction and assured of his people’s support to the present administration in the state.
