‘Give Nigerians environmental blueprint, ERA urges FG’

By DANIEL GUMN

ENVIRONMENTAL Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN) has asked the newly inaugurated administration of President Goodluck Jonathan to produce a workable and feasible environmental blueprint that will address deforestation, gas flaring and other grave environmental concerns besetting the nation.

In a statement to commemorate the 2011 World Environment Day, Saturday,  titled, “Forests: Nature at your service,” ERA/FoEN said, more than ever before, the time is now ripe for government to match talk with action by putting the brakes on all destructive projects promoted in collaboration with profit-only corporations that hide under the cover of development to further impoverish the people.
