ENUGU-GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu State yesterday took the oath of office for another four-year tenure with a pledge to deploy more resources to the education sector while consolidating on the achievements made in the area of infrastructure development during the first tenure.
However, the inauguration ceremony which took place at Okpara Square, Enugu, was nearly disrupted following the slump of a policeman attached to the Criminal Investigation Department of the State Police Command, Sergeant Kazim Auta during the parade.
Auta, who was dressed in full police ceremonial dress and manned the salutary stand where Governor Chime had taken salute during the parade, slumped and went into coma shortly after the parade by men of the state police command and Squadron 3 Police Mobile Force, Enugu.
The medical personnel from the Enugu State Medical Emergency Response Team who rushed to the scene with an ambulance with registration number 1 ENSG 3441, battled to revive him for about 30 minutes before rushing him to an unknown hospital where he was still being attended to by press time yesterday.
The medical personnel said the policeman slumped due to exhaustion.
