Sambo in Addis Ababa for Africa-India Summit

Addis Ababa –  Vice President Namadi Sambo on Monday arrived Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the second Africa-India Forum Summit.

The Vice President, who arrived the Ethiopian capital at around 11.15pm, Ethiopian time, was received by the AU Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, Mrs Elham Ibrahim.

Others at the airport to welcome the Nigerian Vice President included Mr Ramtane Lamamra, AU Commissioner for Peace and Security, the  Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hajiya Salamatu Suleiman, Nigeria’s  Permanent Representative to AU, Mr Onvu Eneje and Col. K. Adam, the  Defence Attache at the Nigeria’s embassy in Ethiopia.

The second Africa-India forum summit will bring together officials and business people from Africa and India in a bid to boost cooperation between Africa and India.

India is showing interest in Africa’s investment opportunities and a large number of Indian investors are currently involved in various businesses in different countries on the continent with multi billion dollars investment.

The Summit, with the theme “Enhancing Partnership Shared Vision”, will evaluate what was developed during the First Africa-India Forum Summit, hosted by India in April 2008.

The First Summit adopted two far-reaching documents, the Delhi Declaration and the India-Africa Framework for Cooperation.

Fifteen African countries will participate in the Summit on behalf of the African continent.

Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, is also expected to attend the Summit.(NAN)
