ABAKALIKI – Federal Government, weekend, said it would expand the services currently being rendered at the new National Fistula Centre, Abakaliki, noting that such proposal was necessary for maximum healthcare delivery to patients of Obstetric Fistula in the country.

The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu who made the remarks at the formal handover ceremony of the South East Fistula Centre to the Federal Government in Abakaliki, assured the government of Ebonyi State of sustained free medical services to all patients who would come to the Centre for treatment.

Chukwu, stated that the Centre which was the first and only to be taken over by the Federal government as National Fistula Centre in the country, had equally been set aside as one of the Centres in the South-East where screening of cancer would also take place, adding that the exercise would be flagged off in Port Harcourt by the wife of the President, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.
