Abuja – An Abuja high court has ordered that “the Caretaker Committee be constituted to run the affairs of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), until the determination  of the substantive suit before it.

It has also granted an interlocutory injunction stopping anyone from convening or holding the national delegates conference of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) due to hold in Calabar, Cross River State.

Justice  S.C. Orji in  an order directed “The defendants/respondents either by themselves, or their agents, servants, privies or whatsoever are hereby restrained by an Order of interlocutory injunction from taking any further steps towards  organising the proposed National delegates conference of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE)  or howsoever pending the determination of the substantive suit”.

He also ordered that “the Caretaker Committee shall administer the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees ( NULGE) ,  until the determination  of the substantive suit of until the Court otherwise orders”.

In the suit  filed by Comrades EUGENE Ugwu, Barrister Friday  Jomani  , Comrades   Kenneth Udo and Elvis Iwueze against  Comrade Kingsley  Ogba national president of the union , the acting general secretary, Comrade Bamidele Oyeniyan, the court also ordered,

“the defendants/ respondents either by themselves or their agents, servants , privies or whatsoever are hereby restrained by an Order  of interlocutory injunction from conducting  any election  for the national officers of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the proposed national delegates  conference scheduled to hold on 12/8/2009 and 13/8/2009 in  Calabar or anywhere else pending the determination of the  determination of the substantive suit”.
