Last week, Lisa town, a village sandwiched between Sango and Ifo in Ogun State was in celebration mood as sons and daughters of the town gathered at the palace of their traditional ruler, Baale Nojeem Odugbemi Oladele of Lisa for the 5th coronation anniversary.

The town which calls to memory the 2005 plane crash was filled with merriment just as distinguished guests from Ghana, London and other parts of the world joined in the pomp and festivities that lasted all day.

The one-week celebration began with the formal installation of chiefs as well as conferment of chieftaincy titles on other prominent sons of the town.

Baale Oladele who earlier spoke to newsmen said the event was also to celebrate the achievements the town has recorded in the last five years under his headship.

He stated that unity and security of live and property in the area has been applauded by even neighbouring towns adding that the youth empowerment program which was flagged off by Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello recently was also remarkable. “The youth and unemployed adults are already benefiting from the programme and we will continue to do more to make people happy,” he said.

Baale Oladele who was said to have solely carried on the rehabilitation of major roads in the town charged politicians to focus more on development of their areas, stressing that “the influx of people from rural to the urban areas as a result of lack of development has a multiplier effect on the well being of the urban areas.”

He added that the people will vote out all bad governments who renege on their promises to the people as power resides in the people.
