Police arrest 33 over alleged electoral offences in Jigawa

DUTSE – The Jigawa state police command has arrested 33 persons across the state various electoral offences during the last Saturday National Assembly election,  contrary to provision of the 2010 electoral Act.

Addressing newsmen Tuesday,  Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG,  in charge of zone one, Kano, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammad, disclosed that arrests were made at different polling units across the state while the election was going on.

AIG Mohammed explained that in Hadejia local government, five under age children were arrested while attempting to vote, at Fantai polling unit in the same local government, there  was also a case of canvassing for votes during election at a polling unit.
