Ex-Edo Dep Speaker alleges FG, PDP connivance to intimidate ACN

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN – FORMER Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Omo Ezomo, has alleged that the Federal Government had connived with the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State to intimidate Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, members in the state.

The lawmaker who regretted the shift  of the National Assembly poll to weekend, attributed it to  plans by the PDP to ensure that the ACN controlled states lacked the finances for the election.

Ezomo, in his reaction to the shift of the election,  said “it is not true that it is only the PDP that was affected. The PDP is in charge of the Federal Government and they have more money.

“Governor Oshiomhole is not like other PDP governors, who open the state treasury for election. It is only in this state that you see ACN candidates complaining about funds even though the government in power is ACN. Oshiomhole is a prudent Governor but because the PDP Federal Government  want to capture the state, they are using the military and every other thing to intimidate our people.”

The ACN chieftain added “it would be wrong for Mr President to promise our people free and fair polls while some persons are using all means to capture power in Edo State.”
